Gujarati Samaj Hindu Temple

Blackhawk Engineering developed the site plan, as well as designed and permitted the Gujarati Samaj Hindu Temple in Tallahassee, Florida.

The project was designed to avoid impacts to the Lake Lafayette flood plain, which extends over much of the property. FDOT driveway and utility permits were required, and included widening a median cut and addition of a turn lane on Apalachee Parkway.

During construction, due to changes in the building concept, BHE was asked to design a water main extension to the site.  We produced a set of plans on a short time schedule, and obtained the DEP permit within a matter of months.  Construction of the water main was completed shortly thereafter.

Animal Aid Foundation

Delta Tau Delta House

Blackhawk Engineering, Inc. performed a site observation of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house, an 1890s building on the campus of Florida State University. We were asked to look at the damage to the structure that has occurred from water seepage, insect infestation, excessive loads, fire damage, and any other issues that could affect the structural integrity.

BHE prepared a 60-page report summarizing the deficiencies found in the building, and making recommendations for the repair of those deficiencies.

St. Augustine Plantation
Assisted Living - Addition

Blackhawk Engineering has permitted two projects for St. Augustine Plantation Assisted Living, originally constructed in 1998. The first addition was a 27-bed expansion which added on to the existing building. The second is a Memory Care Facility which will provide services for clients requiring extra care. For Phase II, a wetlands crossing was required. In addition to the City and NWFWMD permits, Blackhawk Engineering also performed the hydraulic analysis for the crossing, and completed the structural design for the culvert and retaining walls. Construction of the project is currently underway.

Dairy Queen
(Capital Circle Southeast)

In 2016 Blackhawk Engineering designed and permitted Tallahassee’s newest Dairy Queen on 1319 Capital Circle SE. The design of this DQ layout includes an internal parking lot with a wraparound drive through to prevent vehicle stacking conflicts. The stormwater management facility was designed in accordance with the City of Tallahassee (COT) standards for the lake Lafayette open basin scenario. Among the standard permits required by the COT, additional permits necessary for his project included FDOT driveway connection, FDOT drainage, and the NPDES approval.

March Creek Subdivision
